Bitcoin Truly Is Superior to Gold

After all I have read about gold vs bitcoin and just crypto in general, I can't even come up with a scenario in which crypto loses. If you want to watch something good that could show you just how dirty gold is check out dirty money on netflix or really just do basic research on what people are arguing. Usually nay sayers try pointing out how bad crypto is for the environment...it's not even close. Limitless potential out here and it's so early. I hope the world really starts to get educated on this, tell your friends and good luck you guys. In an age where almost nothing is original or rare, bitcoin is bliss

Lab made diamonds, impure gold, coins made of cheap metals, Monopoly money with no backing. Even every day materialistic stuff is being made much cheaper than before, second hand goods have become a thing of the past. All that I possess is pretty worthless, the most expensive being my car which will decrease in value each day. My bitcoin however, is original and rare, and becomes more sought after over time. This makes me sleep much better at night. I hope that in future my bitcoin will allow me to purchase some land (which is also limited) then I am sorted for life. submitted by /u/2892958278274 [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/2R3sX2G

Built a SHA-256 machine

So I was wondering if it will be possible to develop a machine without electricity which operates logic gates for a one turn of sha256 that can be 3d print like this curta machine (I expect a 128 turn will be to much hard). I saw a lot of videos on YouTube for making logic gates which are very cool btw (from lego to pneumatic ones using paper ). This can be really time saver if we want for example generate a bitcoin address by hand which needs to do 3 times of 128 round of sha256 if I'm not mistaken. submitted by /u/carniflore [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/3f70Rvi

Taproot question: Will this transaction become smaller?

Here is a transaction with 350+ inputs: Size: 53.87 kBVirtual size: 53.87 kvBWeight: 215.48 kWU Here is a simple transaction with one input and two outputs: Size: 226 B ( 0.226 kB)Virtual size: 226 vBWeight: 904 WU The large transaction is 238 times larger! Is my assumption correct that after taproot (which includes schnorr) the large transaction will look like the small one, effectively saving 99% of the the transaction size, which also means it will take much less time to create the transaction and much cheaper to have it confirmed (few cents instead of $100+)? submitted by /u/binarygold [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/3uqUWaW

I finally got that "call" today.

So, I'm playing with Molly, the cat when the phone rings. Checking my caller i.d, it's Karl, a friend, or shall I say a business associate that we sometimes collaborate on projects together. Haven't heard from this guy in a year or so. I answer and receive the warmest greetings, a quick catch up chit-chat and then it starts out with a simple question. "So hey, you remember about those digital assets you kept telling me to get into? Are you still involved with it because I'd like to get some and don't know where to start." A quick flashback: I preached on the mountain top for years the wonders of crypto, but to no avail. Not only did it fall on deaf ears back then but Karl would make fun of me at parties, tell everyone that crypto was dead, get a real job yada, yada. Well, to put a long story short, Karl wants to pay for my time, take me out for dinner and talk about future, lucrative, projects together. I'm soo dying to mash it right back in his face,

We are near the end of early adoption

I'm not a person that came out ahead when it comes to crypto. Unfortunately, my dumb ass did some stupid shit and lost it all in a fire, so what I have is pretty minimal compared to what I've had. With that said, I've been in the crypto game since late 2013. In that time, there was much discussion on the tech, not the price. There were still discussions on the price, but small in comparison. I recall that I could bring up the topic with others, and they never heard the word Bitcoin, sometimes they did. I managed to enlighten some, and was called bad words indirectly by others (they would say things like overthrow the government, criminals, drugs, etc.). But a majority of the time, they never heard the word. Over years, I've tried to educate those around me of the technology and pass on the new paradigm and how to view money. Btw, YouTube Bitcoin scishow for a decent primer on Bitcoin. That would be my homework I'd give most, then I'd break into deeper topics

Investing time into Bitcoin is proof of work...

I told my friend about Bitcoin in Dec 2020 at $18k. Since then it has somewhat consumed my life and I have put in countless hours of reading, watching, listening and learning about bitcoin, blockchain technology and the many wide reaching benefits and consequences of crypto assets and currencies. I have since taken profits from my stock market portfolio and now sit at well over 50% of my net worth in BTC. I feel calmer, both in the present and about the future. I feel smarter, more inquisitive, more curious and more eloquent. I won’t bore you with too many other personal details, but my life is a LOT better since I chose to learn about bitcoin and dedicate hours of my life to the pursuit of educating myself about this fascinating new technology. I have recently learned that my aforementioned friend did not choose to take this path. Instead, he invested his money in the stock market, notably in stocks that have been ‘hyped’ online on social media. He only started to take a look at bi

Is it true that each single Satoshi can be traced back to the block it was mined in?

With the recent (stupid) talk about "blood" bitcoin and "dirty" bitcoin, there often comes the assertion somewhere in the comments, that it is possible to trace back each single Satoshi all the way to the block it was mined in. I don't think that this is actually true in cases where multiple UTXOs were consolidated into a single UTXO - or is my understanding of how Bitcoin transactions work flawed? Let's say I have in my wallet 2 bitcoin. One of them in address A (in a single UTXO) and the other in address B (also in a single UTXO). The bitcoin in A can be traced to CleanBlock, the bitcoin in B to DirtyBlock. Now I consolidate these two bitcoin into a single UTXO in address C by creating a transaction that includes both of these UTXOs as inputs, with the UTXO in address C as the single output. So at the end I have 2 bitcoin minus fees in address C, again in a single UTXO. Now I want to pay Bob 1 bitcoin. I use address C for this and make a transaction t

Is it too late to join the BTC bandwagon?

Hello everyone. I'm not looking to be an instant millionaire through Bitcoin, nor aiming to reach 1 BTC. That ship is long gone (kinda). I will just do what I can and plan to put in about $100-$200 monthly in BTC and hodling forever. Is this still a viable option and forgive me for asking, will DCA-ing $200 or so in BTC still give me massive gains in say, 20 years or so? Safest non-hardware wallet for receiving and storing $30,000+ BTC?

I have been working with some of my buddies from from F2Pool and Stake for over a year now on some BTC that they have been staking/storing in their system for me. It started with an initial value of $1,000 which I was storing in the Green wallet until transferring it to their system. Since that began, the price has skyrocketed. In addition, I also personally funded my account in their system monthly, so between that and the insane price increase over the year, my total value is now $35,000. I am receiving it this week and will be getting a hardware wallet at some point in the near-ish future, however in the meantime, what are the safest/best non-hardware wallets that will be able to accept my large $30,000+ BTC transaction without anything in the wallet and store it safely? Soo many people are in denial about inflation. If you asked them 2 years ago "hey if one day the fed randomly decided to print 10 trillion dollars, that would cause hyperinflation, right" everyone would agree. But when it actually happens, 90% of people come up with some excuse as to why nah not....

...nah not hyperinflation that can't happen here. In drugs, its called the onset when you take a pill and wait for it to kick it. During the onset you feel 0 effects. The onset lasted from maybe March 2020 to Jan 2021. Next is the come up, when you start to feel effects but its not full strength yet. The come up started once the vaccine rolled out and people started spending, inflation starts small. The come up started Jan 2021 once the vaccine started allowing poeple to leave their house. After the come up is the Peak - I except the peak start once we reach 80% to100% vaccination in the USA, we are currently at about 33% vaccinated. Current estimates say it will take until 2022 to get their. The come down, come as the fed raises rates. Hyperinflation is only temporary, as it only last a few years in every country in history. But your savings will be worthless by the time of the come down. submitted by /u/hyperinflationUSA [link] [comments] from Bit

Hey guys, just a noob question since im new at this... but can somebody explain to me the benefit and puprose of a wallet as opposed to just using an exchange to manage your coins? Will Bitcoin adoption end up causing more inflation, which will then grow Bitcoin even bigger?

If more and more people see the benefit of storing their value in the verifiably scarce digital asset (btc), that would mean less people will hold on to fiat . for example- money printing $1tril dollars would be stealing $1tril from all fiat holders (through currency debasement).. since there are now less fiat holders (as btc adoption increases), there will be less people to steal from. so they will have to print even more in order to steal the same amount of value, which will cause even more money to go into bitcoin. it's a never ending cycle , and the government will be forced to shrink, because their stream of value stolen through inflation will be eliminated and the value stolen must now ONLY be through taxes (which is visible to society, so the system will be a more honest and transparent system). amirite? submitted by /u/suuperfli [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/3nQCG8m

Thought I knew what I was doing...guess I don't.

So my son is dabbling. I explained the concept of a hardware wallet...and the importance of securing seed words. He asked a question I couldn't answer (googling included). How does your wallet 'know' that your seed words represent all your tokens? Let's say you set up a brand new hardware wallet and generate your seed words. A couple of days later you buy n number of tokens on different chains. How do the seed words represent all that? He's concerned (bless him) that they must be stored on a database somewhere. Hearing 2 customers discussing blockchain at the gas station made me so happy. 😍

I just stopped into the gas station and a plain clothed middle aged lady was explaining to a woman in scrubs (both strangers) how to use the bitcoin atm. The nurse said she prefers to use cashapp (so at this point I'm shocked that they're both coiners!) but the plain clothed lady says she likes the convenience (and anonymity probably) the atm provides her because she typically keeps cash money. She continued on to the finer points of transaction speed, blockchain verification, and congestion during high transaction rate spikes. Just to hear 2 totally normal, average citizen, women in small town North Carolina talking about blockchain congestion and transaction fees made my heart melt. Crypto is here to stay and that was a really great example for me of mass adoption and that this is only the beginning. Wtf just happened?

Sorry if this is a stupid question...I’m still learning more about BTC. What caused the sudden nose-dive? I’m not gonna panic sell or anything...but I’m just really confused what’s happening or what caused it to dip so suddenly. Any knowledge is appreciated, thanks. submitted by /u/taladanarian [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/3ukSuCI

BTC Lightning Network adopted in ecommerce site

This may not be huge to all of you, but this is huge for many. I have been restricted to purchase an item through PayPal / Credit Card because of the restriction of E-cigarette related products in my country. Although some may argue the infrastructure for BTC is at its infancy, but we know day by day BTC is getting better and mass adoption may come just in a few years time. https://preview.redd.it/j7cjtq5eitw61.png?width=392&format=png&auto=webp&s=80a4295530e7a773d92d96c3753bb76eb811f404 submitted by /u/InteractiveLedger [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/2Rh2myQ

What is BTC's future if central banks adopt a digital currency?

The economy has pretty much been on life support for the past year. There has been a lot of talk about hyperinflation eating away at the dollar and talk of a major market correction probably sooner than later. The US Federal Reserve will likely create a blockchain based digital dollar . What does this mean for BTC? I do not live in the USA but I am considering investing maybe 5% of my money into BTC because I truly believe it will eventually go up in value. It's volatile but if I didn't doubt everyone who talked about BTC 5 years ago and simply took a chance I probably would be on a tropical island right now. But how would something like this impact the value of BTC? submitted by /u/LethargicArmadillo [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/3xHwUKV

My country is in a fight against dictatorship

I live in Colombia and at the beginning of the pandemic i converted all my savings and income straight into Bitcoin. I lost all my savings twice before when the bank declared bankruptcy and a few years ago the bank literally stole money from my account. Now since April 28 war broke out and things are not looking bright for the country. Some people on Twitter and also Imgur trying to give live updates on the situation https://imgur.com/gallery/QQIM0yi https://twitter.com/FisicoImpuro https://twitter.com/HOLLMANMORRIS https://twitter.com/HRI_ONG 90% of my money is save, thanks to Bitcoin ! Sadly news sources aren't covering the true picture here (as you can see in the imgur link), strikes broke out 28 of April and the Police and Military are killing, torturing, raiding peoples homes and shooting flash bang grenades and tear gas grenades in people's homes. Right now i have my windows barricaded with mattresses and a gaping hole in my roof from flash bang grenades. All

What is the origin story of a single unit of Bitcoin being set equal to 100M sats?

My understanding and from what I can tell, the core code only ever uses an integer (long) for the values of coins in tx's; never deals with doubles/floats or scaled floats. This base unit eventually became known as a satoshi or sat. But when and why did 100 million of these base units become known as a single unit for Bitcoin. I'm interested in both technical and banter of the origin story that became the infamous single unit of a Bitcoin. A naive assumption I've arrived at is that it may have something to do with the max value of a 32 bit signed integer (2,147,483,647 = [2 31 - 1]). Probably just a coincidence, but this max value is 100 times (plus some) the 21 million bitcoin limit we always hear about. submitted by /u/oGceaseless [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/3gT7R1u

There will only be 21 million Bitcoin. What happens when 7.6 billion people realize that?

It’s too late for many, especially those who haven’t heard about it yet. What about those sitting on the sidelines? Are you paying attention to grab a portion of it while you can? Or waiting for next big crash? Source submitted by /u/papasmruf [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/3aUVfmC

Charge my electric vehicle and im saving the environment, use the same amount of electricity to mine bitcoin and everyone loses their minds..

If I take my electricity and plug in my electric vehicle every single day so I can drive to the mall I am saving the environment. But if I take my electricity and plug in my electric bitcoin miner to provide transaction validation and propagation services for the worlds population then I am somehow destroying the environment. The whole bitcoin environment destruction narrative is such a farce. submitted by /u/slvbtc [link] [comments] from Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet https://ift.tt/3tbMpYb
