Bitcoin Price Set to Reclaim $8K But a Rising Wedge Is Worrying Bulls

Image
Bitcoin price popped above the $7.8K resistance, opening the door for gains to $8K but bulls need to supply serious volume to break above the bearish rising wedge. Bitcoin price ( BTC ) is taking a bit of a breather after breaking flipping the $7,600 resistance to support during the morning trading hours of Nov 29.  While the current technical setup is exciting, bulls will need to supply significant enough volume for the price to break to the upside of the rising channel, above the $7,800 resistance and the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level.  Crypto market daily performance. Source: Coin360 Buyers stepped in on Friday morning, pushing Bitcoin price from $7,430 to $7,880 before pulling back to $7,750. Currently, Bitcoin trades in a rising wedge and the price remains capped below the resistance at $7,800.  Today’s upside move brought the price above the midpoint of the long term descending channel and the moving average convergence divergence (MACD) on the daily and 6-hour time fr

On Friday, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s cash-settled Bitcoin futures contract for the month of November was reported to have expired by a number of analysts. No Bitcoin Capitulation This Year Could Indicate BTC Bottom Is In

Image
Bitcoin continues to crank higher as we end the weekend rounding out a week of gains. The move has led analysts to question whether the dump to $6,500 was the bottom and a trend reversal has finally begun. Bitcoin Edges Towards Resistance There is still a long way to go before any measurable trend reversal can be confirmed. Today has been another of gains as BTC topped out at $7,850 a few hours ago. Glancing at the five day chart would paint a very bullish picture. Zooming out to look at the whole month however tells a completely different story. Bitcoin has dumped almost 30% in November to bottom out in the mid-$6k zone. Since that trough on Monday it has recovered almost 20% but still has a lot of work ahead. The next significant resistance zone is around $8,200 and beyond that it needs to push above $9k for technical indicators to start turning bullish. Analysts have noted that unlike in 2018 when BTC dumped 50% in a matter of days, there has been no capitulation this time ar

American Citizen Arrested For Educating North Korea On Blockchain And Crypto

Image
Prosecutors announced the arrest of a U.S. citizen who traveled to North Korea to deliver a presentation on how to use blockchain and crypto to avoid sanctions. Today United States prosecutors announced the arrest of Virgil Griffith, who allegedly traveled to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to deliver a presentation on how to use cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology to circumvent sanctions. According to the November 29 announcement , the 36-year-old Griffith was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport, and will be charged with conspiring to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The charges carry a maximum term of 20 years in prison. U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman stated: “As alleged, Virgil Griffith provided highly technical information to North Korea, knowing that this information could be used to help North Korea launder money and evade sanctions. In allegedly doing so, Griffith jeopardized the sanctions that both Con

If Bitcoin Price Drops — an Opportunity for Crypto Tax Planning

Image
Bitcoin traders can use Bitcoin price drops to reduce their tax liabilities. After many countries around the world such as the United States , the United Kingdom , France , and Portugal published their own cryptocurrency tax guidelines this year, it is only reasonable they will expect to see an increase in crypto tax filing. They may even follow suit with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and begin their own crypto tax compliance campaign . As the price of Bitcoin ( BTC ) jumped this year, so too did the tax liability for every profitable sale, trade or exchange for Bitcoin traders. The recent drop in Bitcoin price presents traders with a great opportunity to reduce tax liabilities accumulated since January 2019. Many people don’t know it, but cryptocurrency tax liability can be significantly reduced by a recently developed practice called crypto tax planning. Just like you can plan your taxes in stocks trading, countries that consider cryptocurrency to be an asset subject to ca

Everything in our holiday gift guide that's on sale for Black Friday

Image
The best way to shop on Black Friday is to know what you’re looking for. In our case, that means focusing on brands we know our readers love and scouting for deals on products we’ve recently given high review scores. And, of course, we look for deals on stuff we just recommended in our holiday gift guide, only weeks earlier. So, we went back and revisited all 150-plus recommendations in the guide, to see if we could spot any price drops today, the biggest shopping day of the year. Turns out, we found a lot. Have a look and as always, keep in mind that while prices are accurate as of the time of publishing, they’re subject to change and things do sometimes sell out. Oh, and Black Friday doesn’t last forever, which means eventually all of these deal prices are bound to revert to the norm. from E-Crypto News https://ift.tt/2R3sZVO

Intel says it sold its cellular modem business to Apple at “a multi-billion dollar loss”

Image
In context: In a world where smartphone makers and PC OEMs say 5G is the future of connectivity, Intel lost the ability to compete with Qualcomm because of the latter’s anticompetitive licensing deals. That means there’s less competition in the modem space, which is terrible news for both consumers and manufacturers. Earlier this year, Apple poached Intel’s lead 5G phone modem developer, which is widely believed to have prompted the latter’s exit from that market. In July, news broke that Intel had signed an agreement with the Cupertino giant to hand over its 5G modem division for $1 billion. It looks like Intel thinks the deal was grossly undervalued. The company describes it as a “multi-billion dollar loss,” and alleges that rival chipmaker Qualcomm essentially created conditions that forced it out of the market. At the time of the announcement, Intel was quite open about its reasons, noting that “it has become apparent that there is no clear path to profitability and positive r

Two Phase Immersion Liquid Cooling at Supercomputing 2019

Image
It would now appear we are saturated with two phase immersion liquid cooling (2PILC) – pun intended. One common element from the annual Supercomputing trade show, as well as the odd system at Computex and Mobile World Congress, is the push from some parts of the industry towards fully immersed systems in order to drive cooling. Last year at SC19 we saw a large number of systems featuring this technology – this year the presence was limited to a few key deployments. Two Phase Immersion Liquid Cooling (2PILC) involves a server with next to no heatsinks, and putting it into a liquid that has a low boiling point. These liquids are often organic compounds (so not water, or oil) that give direct contact to the silicon and as the silicon is used it will give off heat which is transferred into the liquid around it, causing it to boil. The most common liquids are variants of 3M Novec of Fluorinert, which can have boiling points around 59C. Because it turns the liquid into a gas, the gas rise

Study: Blockchain Can Reduce Food Fraud By $31 Billion Within 5 Years

Image
By applying blockchain technology and IoT the food industry could save up to $31 billion in food fraud savings. The food industry could save up to $31 billion in global fraud savings by tracking food on its way from farms to consumers via the blockchain. A Nov. 25 study by Juniper Research reveals that blockchain technology, in combination with Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and trackers, will greatly reduce retailers’ costs by streamlining supply chains, while simplifying regulatory compliance, offering more efficient food recalls, and tackling fraud. The study points out that the increased adoption of blockchain and IoT in the supply chain industry will add significant value to the food business’s supply chain. By stacking these innovative technologies, the food industry could stack up to $31 billion in food fraud savings in just five years. Research author Dr Morgane Kimmich said: “Today, transparency and efficiency in the food supply chain are limited by opaque data forcin

‘No Man’s Sky Synthesis’ update allows you to upgrade your favorite ship

As part of a related salvaging system, you’ll also be able to break down any ships you no longer want into scrap materials or augmentations that allow you to increase the inventory capacity of one of your other spacecraft. The theme of this update is quality-of-life improvements. Hello Games has overhauled the player inventory system, making it both easier and faster to use by allowing you to simply drag and drop items to switch their place in your inventory. The studio has also added a new feature that allows you to save multiple different outfits within the game’s customizer menu, so that you can then switch quickly between them when you want. Additionally, the update brings feature parity to the VR and non-VR versions of the game. If you play the game in virtual reality, you’ll now be able to access No Man’s Sky photo mode, as well as ride creatures. For those on traditional platforms, you can now pilot an Exocraft in first-person. To top it all off, Synthesis also includes clos

DeFi Don’t Care: Ethereum Investing Reaches Record Levels

Image
Crypto markets may end the year battered and bruised, down 50% from their 2019 highs, but decentralized finance continues to grow as another record has been hit this week. Ethereum investing is moving on to another level and there are no signs of bearish influences in that ecosystem. Decentralized Finance on Ethereum DeFi has continued to show growth this year despite the bears returning to cryptocurrency markets. The concept involves locking Ethereum into smart contracts to earn interest on decentralized lending markets. It is not as volatile as trading the asset directly and would suit those that prefer lower risk with their digital investments. According to Defipulse.com the amount in dollar terms locked into decentralized finance hit a new all-time high yesterday of $685 million. Crypto markets have pumped and dumped this year with total market capitalization falling back below $200 billion again this week. Most altcoins are still in free fall and have wiped out nearly all ga

Ripple (XRP) Price Uptrend Intact For This Reason

Image
Ripple price is trading above a couple of important supports near $0.2200 against the US dollar. The price is facing a major hurdle near the $0.2280 and $0.2350 resistance levels. Yesterday’s highlighted major ascending channel is intact with support near $0.2230 on the hourly chart of the XRP/USD pair (data source from Kraken). The bulls are likely to remain in action unless the price breaks the $0.2200 support area. Ripple price is showing a lot of positive signs against the US Dollar, and bitcoin is above $7,500. XRP price could continue to rise towards $0.2420 unless it breaks $0.2200. Ripple Price Analysis Recently, there was a nice upward move in ripple above the $0.2150 and $0.2180 resistances against the US Dollar. Moreover, XRP price even settled above the $0.2200 resistance and the 100 hourly simple moving average. It opened the doors for more gains above $0.2250 and the price tested the $0.2300 resistance area . A swing high was formed near the $0.2298 level and th

Bitcoin Bears May Not Be Over Yet, Will Black Friday Turn Red?

Image
Bitcoin has made a minor recovery this week to regain position in the mid-$7,000 region. Zooming out to the monthly view though still portrays a steep down trend and the bears may not be over just yet. Will Black Friday turn into a red one for Bitcoin today? Bitcoin Holding Ground Following its mid-week pump, Bitcoin has remained at the $7,500 level for the past day or so.  A quick visit above $7,600 yesterday did not last long and within a few hours BTC had fallen back again to hit an intraday low at $7,380 right on the 50 hour moving average according to Tradingview.com . From there it regained a little composure to return to the $7,450 level following a golden cross on the very short time framed hourly chart. Since its six month low of $6,550 on Monday Bitcoin has recovered almost 14% and in the short term appears to be bullish . The longer term charts are clearly bearish though and Bitcoin has dumped over 20% this month making it a red November. Compared to late November last

After robo-debt smackdown, Robert claims Canberra's digital transformation pushes on

Image
Minister for Government Services Stuart Robert has announced the federal government has started to undertake work to build a single, whole-of-government technology architecture as part of its digital transformation strategy to make all its services digital by 2025. In his address at an Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) event in Canberra on Friday afternoon, Robert detailed how the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has created a taskforce with the largest “technology shops” in government — Defence, Home Affairs, ATO, and Government Services — to explore what the technology architecture could potentially look like. “It will start by identifying critical technology capabilities that support broad business outcomes and progressively develop a more nuanced view of strategic capabilities across government,” he explained. “This will help us understand both the common functions we need to perform across the whole of government as well as discrete capabilities specific t

Not ready to go public? That’s the perfect time to think about going public

Image
The disastrous failure of WeWork’s non-IPO provided not just a dramatic crash-and-burn spectacle, but also a valuable cautionary tale about how not to do an IPO.  Even if your company is not ready to go public at the moment, if there may be an IPO in your future, things go more smoothly for companies that begin the work well in advance.  As a financial manager who consults for public and soon-to-be-public companies, I’ve worked with organizations traveling along a well-planned path, and those with an IPO date looming and management panicking. Here’s what I’ve learned in the process.  Have a business plan that demonstrates a path to profitability The first tech boom clearly demonstrated the folly of having an IPO with nothing more than “a good idea.”  Now, especially after several high-profile IPO failures, investor sentiment has swung to favor companies that demonstrate a solid growth history and a clear path to profitability.
